Individualized Counseling, Couples, and Family Therapy
As a small private practice, Communal Change, LLC., offers a one-on-one, individualized experience. You can expect person-to-person style service while still experiencing all the benefits of a proficient medical professional that deeply values community.
Communal Change, LLC. was founded on the idea that healthy individuals create a strong, thriving, and resilient society. We intend to help build our community with you, from the ground up, by assisting you in indentifying who your best self is and helping you achieve that self and meet your goals.
Communal Change, LLC. offers experienced individualized outpatient psychotherapy (counseling), treating a number of mental health disorders with evidenced based treatments and traditional talk therapy. We endeavor to provide a modality that fits your situation, providing a wide variety of types of psychotherapy. We strive to provide neutral ground to individuals, families, and couples to assist them in finding their best.
Our focus is to help individuals, couples, and families heal, manage life’s difficulties to the best of their ability, cope well, become more resilient, be their best selves, explore who they are, and become aware of their inner strengths. We achieve this by providing a neutral safe space to listen to your concerns and customizing a treatment plan from a wide variety of treatment options.
Care here comes from a whole person approach. This holistic approach is the best practice standard. From that minimum, treatment is built using modalities (i.e. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, and more) that fit your family/life and input, to build a plan co-operatively with you. Depending upon the issue, there might be an emphasis on learning. You can expect some humor during the process and depending upon how you learn best, sometimes book work or homework. Expect to do work outside the therapy room in real life on your own, when you feel ready.
The quick answer is that we treat people who have experienced anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transition, family, and marital counseling.
The majority of patients in the USA who utilize mental healthcare in this country come in for issues like Anxiety or Depression. This is very true for both individuals and families. One in two people in the US will have a depressive episode during the course of their life time. This makes taking the individuals and their components into consideration critical for family/couple work. Often family or couple issues are not successfully resolved if these are not worked on. Like most practitioners, we specialize in Anxiety and Depression treatment on an individual, couple, & family level. Like most practitioners individual treatment of anxiety or depression makes up a bulk of our practice.
However, we also specialize in other things. We often see people who haven't hit their goals but would like therapy to help them achieve a more fulfilling life. We also see people who have trouble transitioning to adulthood or have difficulty socializing. We teach communication. We genuinely enjoy assisting people to live their best life.
When it come to trauma, we most commonly assist people who've had a major life trauma who have experienced; being raped, as an adult who was molested as a child, people who have been physically assaulted, emotionally abused, have or had cancer, had a medical trauma, or experienced being cheated on. PTSD is a common area of treatment at Communal Change, LLC. as well.
Couples counseling done with us is generally for issues with parenting, communication, medical struggles, and/or infidelity. Family counseling is for parents and teens. Unfortunately we do not do family counseling with very young children as our platform is not set up for it.
While we don't offer a crisis counseling center (which is a 24/7 availability, with drop-in and sometimes hospitalization options), we do see crisis cases if the case is stable enough for outpatient treatment. If you are trying to figure out if you are stable enough, ask yourself if you would be capable of discussing your trauma without needing to be watched for suicidality or feeling the need to drink or use drugs afterward. Ask yourself if you are able to maintain employment. If the answer is no, a crisis center might be the best fit.
